CHALLENGES & GOALS

How the Foundation Is Funded

The foundation currently receives donations through several channels:

  • TikTok live sessions

  • GoFund fundraising campaigns

  • YouTube advertisement revenue

  • Individual sponsors who support specific children

However, only a small number of children currently have personal sponsors and we do not receive any financial support from the government.

Responsible Use of Donations

All donations are directed toward essential needs for the children and the foundation, including:

  • School fees

  • Food

  • Rent

  • Medical care

  • Clothing

  • Electricity and water bills

  • Security services

  • Internet and television services

  • Other basic necessities required to run the foundation

Transparency and Accountability

One of the clearest proofs that donations are used responsibly is the continued operation of the foundation.

For nearly nine years, we have maintained the system and supported dozens of children. For more than three years, we have consistently cared for 35 children at the same time.

Several children who joined the foundation while in Primary 5 have continued their education all the way through Form 6, with more than eight children completing their final year of high school. This is one of the achievements we are most proud of.

We also regularly share updates online, including photos and videos showing the items purchased and receipts for payments whenever possible.

Budget and Financial Planning

Because donations vary and depend entirely on the goodwill of supporters, we do not yet have a completely fixed annual budget.

When donations decrease, we sometimes reduce certain expenses temporarily so that we can continue operating. The number of children living at the foundation can also change, which affects the overall budget.

However, we are currently working toward producing a clear annual accountability report.

Social Media and Online Support

We began running TikTok live donation sessions in late 2023.

During 2024, the lives gained significant attention on the MASINIKE GAKIDS page, which had originally been created for one of the children. Unfortunately, a disagreement occurred when the child believed the donations belonged to him personally, which led us to close the page.

In 2025, we started again with a new page called KP Captain. The first year was very difficult and involved many challenges, but we continued working consistently. By the end of 2025 the page began gaining traction, and in 2026 we continue running successful live sessions there.

Overcoming Difficult Financial Periods

There were times when donations from live streams dropped significantly, which created very stressful and emotional moments.

To survive these periods, we introduced a reduced-budget strategy:

  • Some children were moved to more affordable schools

  • Food plans were adjusted to cheaper meals

  • Security staffing was reduced to one guard

During this time, we were also heavily reliant on volunteers and a few dedicated supporters who provided direct assistance until donation levels improved.

Supporting the Wider Community

When donation levels are strong at TikTok, we extend help beyond the children living at the foundation.

We organize community support activities, providing food and basic supplies to elderly people and single parents. Items distributed often include:

  • Sugar

  • Rice

  • Posho

  • Salt

  • Soap

  • Cooking oil

  • Washing powder

  • Other essential goods

We also provide school supplies at the start of school terms and share these activities through live broadcasts or recorded videos.

Vision for the Future

My long-term vision is to build a foundation capable of supporting 200 to 300 children each year.

More importantly, I want to see the children who grow up here graduate, succeed, and build independent lives.

The Importance of Stable Funding

Stable funding would transform the foundation’s ability to plan and grow.

If a sponsor or partner could help cover weekly or monthly operational costs, we would be able to provide consistent support for the children and plan long-term improvements more effectively.

Our Biggest Challenge

The greatest obstacle we face is funding.

Since we do not receive government funding, every resource comes from well-wishers, sponsors who follow the children's talents shared online. Without larger and more stable financial support, it will be extremely difficult to expand the project to help more children.
