    ABOUT US

Our Story

The foundation was started in 2017 by me, Kamulegeya Shafic, a Ugandan citizen who lost his father and was raised by my mother. Growing up in that situation deeply shaped my life and inspired me to help children who were facing the same struggles I experienced.

When I looked around my community, I saw many children living in similar conditions—without stable homes, education, or daily necessities. That realization motivated me to take action.

The foundation first began as a Community-Based Organization (C.B.O) in Bunamwaya, Nfunfu Zone, Makindye Sabagabo District. In 2021, the organization relocated to Makindye, Kigaga Zone, where it was officially registered as

Galaxy Foundation 256.

Leadership and Daily Operations

Today, I continue to manage and oversee the foundation. I am supported by my mother, Nabukeera Sarah, who plays a vital role in the daily care of the children. She mainly focuses on the girls’ section and the infants’ wing, prepares daily meals, and serves as the matron of the foundation.

We are also supported by Ssewankambo Shakul, who acts as the patron and supervises the boys. While these adults assist in daily responsibilities, the overall monitoring and coordination of the foundation remains under my leadership.

Additional support comes from:

  • Dance trainers, who develop the children's performance skills

  • Security personnel, who protect the children and the foundation property

International donations and communication with supporters abroad are handled by Ulrika Lindberg, who has served as the international coordinator of the foundation for the past five years.

Our Mission

The mission of the foundation is simple but vital: to support children in need by providing education, shelter, food, and other basic necessities.

At the same time, we actively nurture the children’s talents and personal development, especially in dance, acting, and singing. These talents help the children build confidence while also helping us share their stories with the world.

We regularly showcase the children’s performances on social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, which allows volunteers and well-wishers around the world to connect with and support the children.

Growth of the Foundation

Over the years, the foundation has grown both in size and in capacity.

One of the clearest signs of development is the number of children we are able to support. We have also improved our training programs and video production, which helps us present the children’s talents more effectively online.

The ability to consistently support more than 35 children demonstrates the progress the foundation has made since its creation.

The Children We Support

Currently, the foundation supports 35 children, including:

  • 15 boys

  • 20 girls

Their ages range from 1 year to 18 years old.

Among them:

  • 9 children are between 1 and 13 years old

  • 26 children are between 13 and 18 years old

Who We Help

The foundation mainly welcomes children who come from difficult circumstances, including:

  • Orphans

  • Children living on the streets

  • Children from single-parent households who cannot provide basic needs.

Challenges Children Faced Before Joining

Before arriving at the foundation, many of the children experienced serious hardships, including:

  • Being unable to attend school

  • Lack of regular meals

  • Lack of clothing and other basic needs

Providing stability and opportunity for these children is the central reason the foundation exists.
